Botanical Illustration
Where science meets art. Develop the skills to render plants with both scientific accuracy and creative beauty using watercolour, ink, and digital techniques.
Course Overview
Botanical illustration is a centuries-old discipline that combines close observation of the natural world with refined artistic technique. Whether you are drawn to the meditative focus of watercolour painting or the precision of pen-and-ink work, this program will guide you step by step — no prior art experience is needed.
Across 8 thoughtfully designed modules, you will learn to truly see the plants around you: the way light falls across a petal, the subtle vein patterns in a leaf, the geometry of a seed pod. You will build foundational drawing skills before progressing into colour work, exploring washes, layering, and blending techniques that bring botanical subjects to life on paper.
The program also introduces digital botanical illustration for students who want to expand their toolkit, and closes with a dedicated module on portfolio curation — helping you present your work to publishers, galleries, or potential clients with confidence and professionalism.
